This recruitment will be used to fill all current and future vacancies.
Grant-funded positions are time-limited and contingent upon sufficient funding.Funded from multiple grants ending between July 31, 2028 and June 30, 2029 (all subject to renewal).
*Applications only accepted from July 6 to July 8, 2026 at 5:00 pm.* The Climate Resilience and Sustainability Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly-qualified individuals to join our team as a Workforce Development Coordinator. Our department is located within the Division of Workforce and Economic Development with the mission of building a climate ready workforce. The incumbent will coordinate, organize and oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned Workforce Development grant and training programs; implement and assist in evaluating program and training plans, budgets, procedures and supporting program promotional materials; perform case management of student/participants from start to completion. We are looking for someone who has experience demonstrating organizational, administrative and communications skills, general knowledge about specific industries related to program areas and traditional and non-traditional student populations. Experience in an academic setting is highly desirable.

Additionally, we are looking for someone who has obtained a Bachelor's Degree in public administration, social science or a closely related field and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in executing workforce development grant and training programs, particularly at community colleges, at least one (1) of which involves responsibilities for program planning, coordination, and implementation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION
  • Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week) / Bargaining Unit
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Location: Will support both campuses, but could be located at either the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) or Trades, Technology, and Community Learning Campus (TTC)
  • Salary: Range 39, $6,657.62 - $8,217.09 Monthly
  • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications.
  • Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties


GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, coordinates, organizes and oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned Workforce Development grants and training programs. This position implements and assists in evaluating program and training plans, budgets, procedures and supporting program promotional materials. Performs case management of student/participants from start to completion and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Workforce Development Coordinator organizes, oversees, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of assigned Workforce Development grants and training programs. This position serves as a liaison with external agency representatives involved with assigned workforce training program(s). Work requires demonstrated organizational, administrative and communications skills, general knowledge about specific industries related to program areas and traditional and non-traditional student populations. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established district and program/contract policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications


Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in public administration, social science or a closely related field and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in executing workforce development grant and training programs, particularly at community colleges, at least one (1) of which involves responsibilities for program planning, coordination, and implementation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience is evaluated on the basis of a verifiable 35 hour week, unless specified otherwise. Prorated part-time experience may be acceptable.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy. Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
